What Does it Mean?

Bellingham is a small town in Washington with just over 30,000 people. It’s known for its lakes, mountains, and forests, as well as its vibrant downtown area. But what does it mean to be “missing out on Bellingham”?

In terms of economic development, Bellingham is missing out on opportunities to attract businesses and jobs because it doesn’t have the infrastructure that larger cities do. For example, Bellingham doesn’t have a major airport or a subway system. This means that businesses and workers have to commute elsewhere to get to work. And since Bellingham is a smaller city, the competition for jobs is fierce.

Bellingham also suffers from a lack of diversity. While the population is mainly white, there isn’t much representation from other ethnicities. This can limit opportunities for people who are not white- the majority of residents. In addition, the lack of diversity can lead to tension and conflict within the community.

Overall, Bellingham has many things going for it – including an amazing natural setting – but it’s missing out on some key opportunities because it’s not big enough or well-connected enough. This can hurt the economy and

What’s Happening to the Missing Bellingham Boy?

Since the disappearance of 12-year-old Jaycee Dugard in 2006, Bellingham has been home to several “missing person” cases. Some have involved children who have vanished without a trace, while others have involved adults who have simply gone missing without explanation. Now, there is yet another case that has the community on edge: that of 26-year-old Michaela Maynard.

Michaela Maynard was last seen on October 3rd outside of her home in Bellingham. She had planned to meet a friend for coffee, but when she didn’t show up for the appointment, her friend contacted the authorities. Michaela’s car was found parked near the city’s airport the next day, but there has been no sign of her since. It is unclear why she would have disappeared, and her family is worried about her safety.

While Jaycee Dugard’s case remains unsolved, the disappearance of Michaela Maynard has sparked concern in the community. Several factors make this case particularly troubling: Michaela is a 26-year old woman who doesn’t fit the profile of most missing persons cases; there are no signs of foul play, and her phone and wallet were

Bellingham is a growing city and there are always new people moving in. Some may not know about the missing person or have not had time to investigate. So who has seen him?

Why does this matter to you?

Bellingham has a thriving economy and is known for its natural beauty, but one group of people is not benefiting from this: the children. In fact, according to a study by Child Trends, Bellingham ranks last in terms of child well-being in the state of Washington. Why is this? One big reason is that Bellingham has one of the lowest rates of parental involvement in kids’ lives.

We think it’s important for kids to have strong roots in their communities, and we want to do our part to help make that happen. That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with Bellingham United Way and the Bellingham Rotary Club to bring Backpack Buddies to Bellingham!

With Backpack Buddies, we’ll provide new and gently used backpacks for local kids in need. Each backpack will have supplies like snacks, games, a compass, and more. We hope that this program will provide the children of Bellingham with the support they need to feel connected to their community and stay focused on their goals.
